Envy dv7
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I want to buy a monitor for my Envy dv7 laptop and want to know what the highest resolution it can support.

It has 2 Display Adaptors:

NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

Thank you.

Hi:

Neither adapter is capable of 4K resolution.

Here are the specs on the GT 635M...

https://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gt-635m/specifications

I can't find official specs on the Intel HD 4000.  This is the closest I could find.

I purchased a monitor with 2560x1440 capability only to discover that the laptop cannot provide a display resolution greater than 1920x1080 via hdmi.

I'm going to get a vga cable as it may be connected to the nvidia card.

I have been unable to get 2560x1440 resolution on my new hd monitor because the HP Envy dv7 does not output this resolution.

The Intel graphics card only provides 1920x1080. The other Nvidia card is listed as haviong  2560x1440  capability, but it doesn't seem to take part in output to the screen, either with vga or hdmi.

Not happy.
