HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cw0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Recently bought a HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cw0xxx with following spec:
AMD Ryzen 5 2500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx, 2000 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

I have a 1440p external monitor from my old desktop and I am wondering whether this laptop can drive the monitor at 1440p or not. If not, I will sell the monitor and use an older 1080p one.

I have it connected at the moment and I feel that it is not producing a crisp, clear 1440p image, but I just need a sanity check to know for sure whether it is only outputting at 1080.

I have read a lot online saying that it is not worth using a 1440p monitor if your gpu can only output 1080p.

Couldn't find anything in the documentation about this, and the HP Support Assistant Virtual Assistant can't provide any useful information.

It's hard to notice much of difference between 1080 and 1440p when using an external monitor

May I know which port are you using to connect the external monitor to the Notebook?

Keep me posted 😊

I have been using the HDMI port on the laptop with an HDMI cable.

The HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cw0xxx uses a HDMI 1.4 which means it can give 1440p at 75Hz refresh rate or 1080p at 44Hz refresh rate
