HP Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Spectre x360 laptop and the contrast is too high and I'd like to adjust it a bit... however I can't seem to find the option to do this anywhere. I can't do it from windows display settings, and when I google the answer, it tells me to go to my Intel graphics settings and change it there... except... my laptop has an Nvidia card in it... and when I go to the Nvidia control panel it literally only shows me options for 3D stuff and no color settings at all. I'm lost as to where I'm supposed to adjust the colors. I upgraded to the latest Nvidia driver but this didn't give me any new color setting options. Please help. Thanks!

@Konidias

Welcome to HP support community.

Let's try increasing the brightness of the laptops and check if that makes a difference,

Also, you may want to perform a colour calibration to get the screen into your preference:

Before you start, make sure your monitor has been on for at least half an hour, so it's warmed up properly, and clean your monitor.

1. Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings

2. Click "Advanced display settings" at the bottom of the settings window.

3. Verify that your monitor is set to the recommended, native resolution. If it's not, set it to the recommended resolution at least for this calibration process.

4. Click "Color calibration" at the bottom of the advanced display settings window.

5. Click Next to start the colour calibration.

The wizard will walk you through adjusting your colour settings. You'll:

  • Set the display to the factory default colour settings, if your monitor allows you to do that
  • Adjust your display's gamma to match a sample image

  • Adjust the brightness and contrast

Adjust the colour balance

6.
At the end of the wizard, click Finish to save your settings.

You'll then be able to calibrate ClearType for sharper text.

I hope that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

Hi, I went through these steps but unfortunately I don't see any buttons on my laptop to adjust contrast, only brightness... When I go to the contrast adjustment screen, it says to adjust the contrast using my device's buttons... but there isn't any contrast buttons on the laptop. So while I can adjust the brightness, this only darkens or lightens my screen. My issue is the reds and other colors on my screen are extremely saturated to the point where it's hurting my eyes to look at them.

I am having the same problem. My picture is over saturated as well. Currently my brightness is set to 44. Turning it up to 75 is too painful to look at, the whites are piercing. With the brightness at 44 and the over saturation, the screen hurts my eyes.  I also do not have the contrast options either.

I am not a whiner, by a long stretch, but this thing is almost unusable.

@Xj43x which product do you have, is it the same as the OP?

Meanwhile, @
Konidias I suggest you create a new user account and check if that has better display, if the issue persists, update the graphics card, bios and chipset drivers from the hp website: www.hp.com/drivers and get back to me with the results.

Cheers.

Hi SandyTechy20,

I have a 2019 HP Spectre x360 13 OLED, Win 10 64bit. Updated BIOS, drivers, etc. I received it 12/19, and am current with all updates.

No contrast or saturation controls available.

Powerful screen, hard on the eyes.

@xj43x

Is this wasn't an issue when the device was purchased, I suggest you create a new user account and check if that has a better display, if that doesn't work and it didn't work since day one, please perform an extensive hardware test using the below steps and get back to us with the results.

Cheers.
