Hi,
The mouse on my laptop recently went mental and started uncontrollably moving independently. I have tried to restart and shut down the laptop in the bid to sort the problem out, however, that’s all I’ve been able to do because I can’t control the mouse and therefore can’t before the updates etc that have been recommended.
I didn’t have my mouse attached at the time, but even plugging that is hasn’t sorted it.
I don’t understand how I can sort this out without taking it to a professional. Any help will be immensely appreciated.
Many thanks
Mark

Hi @Mark_Davies4
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
A TouchPad or ClickPad is a pointing device with a touch-sensitive surface located on the palm rest of the notebook.
TouchPads have a touch-sensitive area bordered by two or more buttons that function like the left and right buttons on an external mouse.
ClickPads have unmarked areas for left and right clicking, instead of discrete buttons like on the TouchPad. To right-click using a ClickPad, press the bottom right corner. To left-click, tap anywhere on the ClickPad, or press the bottom left corner.
NOTE:HP recommends periodically checking for software, drivers, and system BIOS updates to ensure you get the maximum functionality out of your notebook and pointing device. See the section Updating the driver through Windows Update in this document, or the HP document Obtaining Software and Drivers.
Try the steps the in the document -Using the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 10)
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
