Hp spectre x360-15BL112DX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased a Selore & S Global  USB C Adapter Docking Station,USB C Laptop Docking Station for HP Dell,USB C Hub 4K HDMI&VGA,3USB 3.... to create a docking station for my Hp spectre x360-15BL112DX laptop running Windows 10 64-bit and connect an additional monitor to extend the desktop.  The first go around I was using an older Dell vga connected monitor, and the laptop would not recognize the monitor to extend, but only to duplicate.  Then I bought a Sceptre E248W-19203R 24" Ultra Thin 75Hz 1080p LED Monitor 2x HDMI VGA Build-in Speakers, Metallic Black 2018 monitor thinking that an HDMI connection was probably needed.  When the HDMI cable is connected directly to the laptop, the laptop thinks there are 3 monitors (not two)--The laptop being 1/2 and the monitor being 3. If the external monitor is connected via HDMI cable to the docking station the laptop recognizes only the external monitor as a duplicate 1/2 of the laptop as the previous Dell older monitor.  I can't figure out what I am doing incorrectly. All drivers are up to date
