HP Laptop - 17-by3023no
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've tried everything in the settings and in the Control Panel but I cannot get autoplay for DVDs to work. CDs autoplay just fine, but not DVDs. I have set the pre-installed software sMedio True DVD for HP as standard for DVDs but it doesn't help. If I launch the app manually the DVD plays just fine, so the drive obviously works. When I insert a DVD I hear the disc spin for about 30 seconds, then it goes quiet and does nothing. However, If I open up the Explorer and go to This Computer (not clicking on D:, just This Computer), THEN autoplay will launch the DVD software and start playing the DVD.

The laptop is completely new as of today and the only things I've installed are MS Office 2013 and ESET antivirus.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

@Elita-E

It is not a good idea to have Auto play because that is one way to invite virus to your machine. But if you wish what is your DVD software player ?

Regards.

I know, but I only ever play properly licensed CDs and DVDs so I'm not too worried about getting viruses that way.

As I wrote in my original post the DVD player I use is the pre-installed "sMedio True DVD for HP" software.
