The MP5 camera will not "Enable". When I push the Enable icon, nothing happens.

Hi @seanreflex,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues enabling the MP5 camera on your HP laptop, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
  • Look for the MP5 camera under Imaging devices or Cameras.
  • If you see any warning symbols (yellow triangle with an exclamation mark), right-click on the device and select "Enable" if available. If not, try updating the driver.

Update Camera Driver:

  • Right-click on the MP5 camera in Device Manager and select "Update driver."
  • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" and follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver if any updates are found.

Roll Back Driver:

  • If updating the driver doesn't work, you can try rolling back the driver to the previous version.
  • Right-click on the MP5 camera in Device Manager, select "Properties," go to the "Driver" tab, and click "Roll Back Driver" if available.

Restart Your Laptop:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve various software-related issues. Restart your laptop and check if the camera works afterward.

Check Camera Privacy Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
  • Make sure that "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on. Also, ensure that individual apps you're trying to use the camera with have permission to access it.

Scan for Hardware Changes:

  • In Device Manager, click on "Action" in the menu bar and select "Scan for hardware changes." This action may prompt your system to recognize the camera if it wasn't previously detected.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your operating system is up to date. Sometimes, Windows updates include fixes for hardware compatibility issues.

Check Physical Connections:

  • If your camera is external, ensure that it's properly connected to your laptop's USB port or any other relevant port.

Run Hardware Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Run the "Hardware and Devices" troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with enabling the MP5 camera on your HP laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
