Hi!

My laptop has:

- HDMI out

- Type-C out (supporting DisplayPort but up to 5ghz?)

My external display is LG 24GM77. I read its manual and it seems like it is not supporting 60+hz over HDMI, however it supports it over DVI and DP.

I tried Type-C to DP cable but there is no signal.

What cable or cable+adapter should I buy to send 144hz at fullHD from my laptop's HDMI or Type-C to my external display (HDMI/DVI/DP)?

Thanks in advance!

What is your Gaming Laptop PC 16-e0000 (2V8Z7AV) ? From manual of the series it has

  • HDMI v2.0 + HDCP 2.2 supporting: up to 4096 × 2160 @ 60 Hz (models with GeForce 1650 graphics)
  • HDMI v2.1 + HDCP 2.2 supporting: up to 7680 × 4320 @ 60 Hz (models with the following graphics: RTX 3050, RTX 3050Ti, RTX 3060)
  • Audio-out (headphone)/audio-in (microphone) combo jack
  • RJ-45 connector
  • USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (supports data transfer, HP Sleep & Charge; DisplayPort™ 1.4 out up to 5120 × 2880 @ 60 Hz through adapter; HDMI 2.1 out up to 4096 × 2160 @ 60 Hz with HDCP 2.2 through adapter)

The ROT is: resolution goes up refresh rate will go down and vice versa. You may get FHD @120Hz. If you wish 144Hz your monitor would not get up to FHD thru HDMI with or without adapter.

Regards.

The laptop is HP Victus 16 with RTX 3060, AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, 16GB RAM and Windows 11 Home (22H2).

Back to the 144hz thing: apologies that I was not specific in the first post but my thing is not about getting 144hz. I just want to have anything more than 60, it can be 90, 100 or 120 or whatever is possible.

To summarize all: I understand that higher resolution means lower refresh rate. But can I get 100+hz on my external display (1920x1080) with DVI/DP in and HDMI/Type-C out? What cable/cable+adapter should I use if so?
