I'm working on a laptop that will not display any image on the built in display but will work perfectly fine if using an external monitor over HDMI.
I already replaced the screen with a known good display and it still won't turn on.
I also repaired the OS and installed all available updates. I even went as far as downloading and installing the latest graphics and chipset drivers from HP. I also updated the BIOS with the latest version.
I have a new internal video cable coming in a few days but I don't think that is going to resolve it. From what I can tell, the internal webcam and the display share a single connector to the motherboard and I verified that the webcam works just fine.
The other strange symptom that I have is that the display will briefly flash white when restarting the laptop manually but that is the most I've gotten the display to function.
Please let me know if there is something else I can try while I wait for the new video cable to get here.

As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
