I cannot get my HP TrueVision internal webcam to work. As far as I can tell, it is installed, but when I open Zoom or any other program, it says webcam not registered or installed. I'm having a hard time finding information on the website and I cannot get ahold of anyone at HP.

Hello @LizDeatherage22,
Could you please check the solution mentioned here? Let me know how it goes.
Otherwise, a specific product name or product number would be appreciated. E.g. HP Spectre x360 - 13-ap0028ca or 5MT98UA#ABL
Information on how to find a laptop's product name or product number is detailed in this HP document. (Please do not post serial numbers on the HP Support Community. The difference between a product number and a serial number is that the product number contains a # sign)
Kind regards,
Eddy

I had this problem as well took several frustrating days, hours of research and time spent on the phone with HP Tech Reps, all to no avail. Eventually i remembered a little switch that I found on the side of my laptop, checked it et voila ! My camera came back to me. HP technicians should definitely use this in there troubleshooting procedure FIRST. any way give it a try if you don't have a switch then this probably won't be much help.

@DaveK231 yes, it's a very straightforward solution. The article I linked above describes the webcam kill switch.
However, due to the lack of information, there is a possibility that the user's notebook PC does not have a kill switch.

@LizDeatherage22, yeah I gotcha.
Can you provide me with a few additional details? When was the last time you used your camera? Did you recently make any changes to your device?
I've been seeing quite a few questions regarding the dv6 models and to be quite frank, I'm quite sure it's the lack of Windows 10 drivers since these devices are relatively old. This means I can't do much to help. If you go to Device Manager, what do you see under either Cameras or Imaging Devices?
There aren't any webcam drivers available for your device but you could perhaps try a BIOS update. I don't expect it to do much, to be honest:
HP Notebook System BIOS Update (AMD Processors)

Eddy,
I have never used the camera in the 4 years I've had this laptop. HA Before I started trying to get the webcam to work, I didn't do anything new or different to the laptop.
I have downloaded the latest version of YouCam and deleted the older version. Before I did that, I didn't see anything listed under Imaging Devices in Device Manager. Now I can see YouCam 9. But again, when I try to open it, it says to make sure the webcam is turned on. I've even gone into settings, turned the webcam off, then back on and restarted the laptop.
Can I download Windows 10 on this older model?
Thanks
Liz
