When in Word 2013, or trying to type in a web address, I cannot drag my curser to select text. I can only select text by clicking three times.
Also, I can no longer click on a drop down menu, and then move my curser over the option I want to select THEN click. I must click the drop down menu, hold down the button, drag my curser over to the option I want to select, and then release the button to select the option.
It doesn't sound like a big deal but it's really annoying when I'm typing a ten page pape .
Please help!

Hello @Mbeeding,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums!
I recognize that the click function on your HP Pavilion 15 Notebook is not working correctly. This type of issue can be caused by either hardware or most likely driver failures.
Begin troubleshooting by performing a hard reset. Once the notebook is back on, follow this touchpad / clickpad troubleshooting document:
HP Notebook PCs - Using the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 10)
I look forward to your reply!

My hp laptop has been having this issue as well for quite some time.
I notice it mostly with drop down menus, I must click the drop down menu and then use my arrow keys and enter to select the option I want. I can also not highlight large passages anymore in word. It will only highlight for a second and then stop me from highlighting anymore. Another issue happens when I am filling out online forums like job applications and things where I need to enter a date. It will always tell me that the date is not valid. I try it on a different computer and it works just fine. It only happens when the date needs to be selected via calendar or drop down menu.
I know you said something about doing a hard reset, if I do this will I lose everything on my computer? I have so much on here that I don't want to wipe it clean. Please let me know if you have any information on how to fix this problem without losing my pictures and documents.

Hello @jordanmfarrand,
Thanks for reaching out!
I understand you are having issues while using the mouse. Performing a hard reset will not wipe out any of your data. It is just a process of completely removing the charge from the laptop and then restarting the device back again.
Please go to http://hp.care/2bjCZUr and follow the steps under "Reset a notebook with a removable battery" or "Reset a notebook with a sealed or non-removable battery" depending upon your laptop model.
If the issue persists, then try the steps mentioned here: http://hp.care/2cqlt1f
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Cheers 🙂
