HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cr0000 RCTO Base Model

Hi there! I have my new HP Envy 17t-cr0000 only a few months old. My keyboard stopped working once (my touch screen and mouse were fine) and I restarted it and everything was fine. The same thing happened with the keyboard but then the screen wouldn't respond to taps or the mouse. The mouse was actually facing a different way. I could move the mouse but not click with it. I've restarted it, turned on and off. Shut down for a whole day to give it some rest. How do I fix something if nothing needed works?

Hi @JennaG28,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Envy 17t. When you're unable to operate the touch screen, mouse, or keyboard, it could be due to several reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Restart your computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software or hardware glitches. Press and hold the power button until your laptop turns off, then turn it back on after a few seconds.
  • Check for physical damage: Inspect your laptop's touch screen, mouse, and keyboard for any visible damage or debris that might be obstructing their functionality. Clean the screen and input devices with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Disable and enable touch screen: To ensure the touch screen is enabled, go to the Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting "Device Manager." Expand the "Human Interface Devices" section, right-click on your touchscreen driver, and select "Disable." After a few seconds, right-click on it again and choose "Enable."
  • Update drivers: Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause issues with input devices. Visit the HP support website (support.hp.com) and navigate to the drivers and downloads section for your specific laptop model. Look for updated drivers for your touch screen, mouse, and keyboard, and install them.
  • Run hardware diagnostics: HP laptops often come with built-in hardware diagnostic tools. Restart your laptop and repeatedly press the F2 or Esc key (or a key mentioned on the startup screen) to access the diagnostics. Run the tests to check if any hardware issues are detected.
  • Perform a system restore: If the problem started recently, you can try restoring your laptop to a previous point when everything was working fine. Type "System Restore" in the Windows search bar and follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
