Hello,
I bought a capture card to connect my gamestick, the capture card cannot be detected, in device manager it shows as msusb video with asteric, and in properties it says, the driver is not installed. I installed the driver from the cd, but still the error remains same.....how do I resolve it? Also, is there any other way to connect my gamestick which has HDMI output, the capture card gets input from HDMI gamestick, and then output to USB which then connects with pc. Let me know if there is any other way to get input to my laptop?
thanks

Hi @danishahmed,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're encountering an issue with your capture card not being recognized properly by your laptop. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
- Update Drivers: Firstly, ensure that you have the latest drivers for your capture card. Sometimes the drivers on the CD might be outdated. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your specific model of capture card.
- Reconnect the Capture Card: Disconnect the capture card from your laptop and reconnect it. Sometimes a loose connection can cause detection issues.
- Try Different USB Port: If you haven't already, try connecting the capture card to a different USB port on your laptop. Sometimes certain USB ports might not provide enough power or have compatibility issues.
- Check Compatibility: Ensure that your capture card is compatible with your laptop and operating system. Check the HP specifications to confirm compatibility.
- Update Operating System: Make sure your laptop's operating system is up-to-date. Sometimes compatibility issues arise due to outdated software.
- Check for Conflicts: Sometimes other software or drivers on your laptop can conflict with the capture card. Try disabling or uninstalling any unnecessary software or drivers that might be causing conflicts.
Regarding alternative ways to connect your gamestick to your laptop, another option is to use an HDMI capture device that connects directly to your laptop's HDMI port. These devices capture the HDMI output from your gamestick and allow you to display it on your laptop screen or record it. They typically don't require additional drivers and can be a more straightforward solution if your capture card continues to have issues.
If you're interested in this alternative, you can search for HDMI capture devices online or at electronics stores. Be sure to check compatibility with your laptop and gamestick before purchasing.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
