Product: HP Chromebook x360 14a-ca0000 (2V973AV)

My Chromebook is a touchscreen which worked for a long time.  Now all of a sudden the capability is gone, there aren't any settings around it having a touchscreen and it's like it never existed.  The OS and firmware are updated. I've done all of the hard resets. There's no damage to the device. 

It's out of warranty and when I called support they wanted $50 just to diagnose and $250 if it was going to be a hardware issue.  I can't help but theorize that this is done intentionally, gets customers to pay for the repair or just buy a new one when told it's a hardware problem.  

There is no reason this option should have disappeared.
