I am having the Exact same problem.  This seems to be a camera product defect that should be outside the scope of Warranty coverage and subject to a recall.  Please let me know how to get this resolved.

I am having the same camera issue. It's blurry and has black spots on it. My warranty expired yesterday! I wish I had checked this sooner.

What can I do to get this fixed? I agree with the comment from the person above who said this should be fixed regardless of warranty because it seems to be a common defect in the product.

I have the exact problem and tried a hard reset which did not help.   The front camera is focused about 2 inches in front of the lens.

One would expect a company such as Hewlett Packard to have much better quality control.  Since they know it was their mistake they should step up and cover that camera.

I have the exact problem.  Never used the camera until the Coronovirus.  This looks like a well known defect with the HP cameras. They should step up and fix it under warranty.

I am having the Exact same problem. I recently purchased a Factory Refurbished HP Chromebook X2 (4/29/20), and while video chatting with my son I discovered this blurry front camera issue.  HP "says" my Chromebook is out of warranty, but Woot said it was subject to a limited HP warranty.  This seems to be a camera product defect that should be covered.  I have disputed that my new Chromebook is out of warranty, but have received no response from them yet.  Maybe they want to wait long enough for my 90 day warranty to expire before they resolve the case.  That sucks.  This defect really needs to be fixed!  Please let me know how to get this resolved.

I'm in the same boat as all of you, and I just found out my warranty expired a couple of months ago. Same exact issue...front camera blurry, with a small dark spot. It's almost like it's stuck in macro mode, since when I put my fingers an inch from the lens, they're in focus. Rear camera works fine. I'll be calling/chatting with them in the morning. Definitely seems like a known issue, so I hope they'll cover it.

I have same exact problem on a month old chromebook i bought at Target. Kids are home taking zoom and been complaining about it but i thought they were just not positioning themselves correctly. It seems like the lens is out of focus.  please help. thanks
