HP Chromebook x360 - 14-da0011dx

My Chromebook has started glitching  making it unusable at times. It will be fine for awhile and then it will start opening random windows, resizing things and just jumping around. If I close the lid and reopen it will work for awhile and then starting glitching again I've tried Power Washing it but that didn't solve the problem. What's going on and how do I fix it?

Hi @jmish13,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Chromebook X360 might be experiencing a hardware issue, especially since Power Washing didn’t help. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check for Software Updates: Make sure your Chromebook is up to date. Go to Settings > About Chrome OS > Check for Updates.
  • Disable Extensions: Sometimes, browser extensions can cause glitches. Try disabling all extensions and see if the problem persists. Go to chrome://extensions/ and disable them one by one to identify if any are causing the issue.
  • Check for External Devices: Disconnect any external devices (like a mouse or keyboard) to see if they might be causing the issue. Sometimes faulty peripherals can cause erratic behavior.
  • Inspect the Screen: Check if there’s any visible damage to the screen or if it's dirty. Sometimes a dirty or cracked screen can cause touch input issues.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: Try performing a hard reset. Turn off your Chromebook, then press and hold the Refresh key and the Power button simultaneously until the device restarts.
  • Boot in Guest Mode: Boot your Chromebook in Guest Mode to see if the issue persists. If it doesn’t, it might be a problem with your user profile or settings.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: If none of the above steps help, there might be an issue with the touchscreen or internal hardware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
