HP Chromebook x360 - 14-da0021nr

The webcam of my Chromebook x360 stopped working today. Initially the error message suggested that the camera was being used by another application and recommended that I close all applications then try again. I restarted the machine and that didn't work.  I then refreshed the laptop and even did a powerwash - none of these steps recovered the webcam. The original context for the issue was Zoom, but even the Camera app does not work.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.

 

I see that you are facing webcam-related issues on your system. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.

 

May I know from when are you facing this issue?

Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it?

 

Please perform the steps below and let me know the outcome of it:

 

  1. Turn off your Chromebook, then turn it back on.
  2. Try using the camera in another app, like Hangouts. If it works in that app, uninstall the app where it doesn't work, then reinstall it.
  3. Reset your Chromebook.
  4. Recover your Chromebook.
