Is anyone having issues with the click pad on their Omnibook? When I physically click the touchpad I get intermittent results. Sometimes it will work and other times I get no results when clicking. If I move my finger to another part and click(physically push down on the pad) it might work, it might not.

I called HP Support and they ran through the same tests I had already done with the same result. That result was that I had issues clicking through the test on both the left side of the pad and the right side but since I was able to, after struggling to get the touchpad to respond, finish the test, I get the feeling they believe it is "ID ten T error".😒

Any help would be appreciated. I love the computer but may end up taking it back.

Model Number- A4ND0AV

HP OmniBook X 14 inch Laptop AI PC 14-fe1000 (A4ND0AV)

I work in a school district and have literally touched thousands of touchpads during our imaging process. I really like the computer so I am hoping someone can find a fix. I have worked with tech support and gone through all the online tips and tricks to no avail.

Hi @segalestar,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue you're experiencing with the clickpad on your HP OmniBook X 14-inch Laptop (Snapdragon X-Plus) seems like it could be hardware-related, especially since the clickpad response is intermittent and inconsistent across different parts of the touchpad. However, there are a few troubleshooting steps and suggestions to help determine whether the issue is hardware or software-based before deciding to return the device:

Please try the following Troubleshoots steps.

1.    Turn off the Unit.

2.    Disconnect the AC adapter.

3.    Remove any discs from the disc drive.

4.    Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.

5.    Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.

6.    Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.

7.    Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

Step 2

Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and Restart the unit

Step3

The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice  and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit

Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.
 Troubleshooting Steps

Check for Driver Updates:

  • Visit the HP Support Website and download the latest touchpad drivers for your specific laptop model.
  • Alternatively, check for updates using HP Support Assistant or Device Manager.
    • Open Device Manager > Expand Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices.
    • Right-click the touchpad device > Update driver > Select Search automatically for drivers.

Calibrate the Touchpad:

  • Open Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
  • Adjust the sensitivity settings (e.g., from "Medium" to "High" sensitivity) to see if the response improves.

Disable Tap-to-Click (Temporarily):

  • Some touchpad settings might conflict with physical clicking.
  • In Settings > Devices > Touchpad, disable "Tap-to-Click" and test the physical click again.

Perform a Hardware Diagnostic Test:

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 or Esc (depending on the model) to enter the HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  • Run the Touchpad Test and note any errors or anomalies. This can help HP support better understand your issue.

Test in Safe Mode:

  • Boot into Safe Mode by pressing Shift + Restart > Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart > Choose Enable Safe Mode.
  • Check if the touchpad behaves differently. If it works fine, a third-party app or driver might be causing conflicts.

Reset BIOS to Defaults:

  • Turn off the laptop and press F10 on boot to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Navigate to the Advanced or Input Devices section and ensure the touchpad is enabled.
  • Reset the BIOS settings to defaults if necessary.

External Mouse Test:

  • Connect an external mouse and check for consistent clicks.
  • This won't fix the clickpad but can help you stay productive while troubleshooting or waiting for repairs.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I tired the first four but no luck. It seems that when you hold the power button down for longer that 10 seconds it shuts down again so Windows B and Windows V but it would not work.  I went through all of the other steps prior to this message. It is the lower part of the click pad that is not working and it seems to be getting worse.

No issues when I connect a mouse so I highly suspect it is the touchpad hardware.

I'm suppose to be getting a box to send it in to be repaired.

Thanks you for your help. I wish it would have worked.
