Good Morning Everyone,
I am Nicola and I am new to the HP support forum, I just received by my company a brand new Hp Spectre 13-AC011TU.
I'd like to add a stylus with it, I think is very useful to take notes on the fly, finally stopping the using of paper...
I searched the web and also the HP website for the compatibility of my PC with the HP pens.
Seems that the HP Pen (Microsoft) (1CP24AV / Y0C43AV) is compatible with My PC, however it seems also that it may be compatible also the HP Tilt Pen (Microsoft) (1SC98AV / 1TD47AV) with a generic "*".
- Before speding money in something that does not work is there a way to understand if the Tilt Pen will be compatible? Mayebe providing the Serial number of the PC or something else? Depends on the digitizer mounted in teh PC? How Can I check it?
- Moreover, the tilt function will also work? I am not an expert, but I think it may be not bound to the digitizer capability, but only on pen capability and drivers.
- What does the (Microsoft) description stands for? It means that also the surface pro pen could work?
Please, if possible, avoid a "political" answer saying that the compatibility is shown at the link ... ... I already checked it, in my opinion the information are not so clear (or at least, the only thing clear is that the HP Pen must work).
Thanks in advance for your answer.
Have a nice day.
Nicola

The Microsoft in the designation means that the pen works with Microsoft Ink. The Surface Pro pen probably won't work. Try it at a shop.
I suggest taking the notebook with you to a store that has both pens for sale. There isn't much better than a hands-on demonstration.
Let the salesperson that you need to try both the HP active stylus and the HP tilt pen so you can make an informed purchase decision.
There is currently no documentation available to the public that specifically states that the tilt pen will work with your ultrabook.

Thanks for the answer,
However, is quite strange that a company like HP feels the need of putting that small star in the compatibility list without knowing very well the reason, seems "just to be sure".
I would understand that they do not want to take a position on the Microsoft pen, since is not their product (but they surely know), but not having clear information on their...
In China is not so easy to find a store where I will be able to do what you suggested, nevertheless I will try to do it.
I will post the result.
Bye

Hi Nicola,
I am also from China. I have the similar model to yours (mine is spectre x360 13-ac033dx). I have the same question whether the "tilt function" could work. So I wonder if you have tested the hp tilt pen on your laptop?
