I purchased HP USB-C Dock G4 for my HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-aw0xxx with Windows 11

Charging, USB Ports, audio jack, network port are working but there is no video output display from Both (HDMI and Display ports) I cross checked with different cable and monitor but no result. Even Dock power button also not working with my HP Spectre. I tried downloading all possible firmware and drivers I could find. Still no video signal

I found this Dock G4 not fully compatible with HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-aw0xxx

What Docking Station is fully compatible (USB, display, network all function) with this laptop? Any help highly appreciated.

Hi @Asif1704,

Thanks for your response.

To clarify your concerns:

  • Compatibility: The HP Elite USB-C Dock G4 is generally compatible with the HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-aw0xxx series. However, certain advanced features such as video output and power button integration may vary depending on the laptop’s hardware and firmware support.

Before considering a replacement, I recommend trying the following steps:

  1. Firmware and Driver Updates
    • Ensure your laptop BIOS, graphics drivers, and HP Dock firmware are fully updated. You can find updates via HP Support Assistant or the HP Drivers & Downloads page.
  2. Cable and Monitor Check
    • Test with different HDMI/DisplayPort cables and monitors to rule out cable or display issues.
  3. Direct Connection Test
    • Connect your external monitor directly to the laptop’s USB-C/HDMI port (if available) to confirm that the laptop itself can output video correctly.
  4. Dock Reset
  • Disconnect the dock from power and the laptop, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect. Sometimes this resets the dock’s internal controller.

If the issue persists after these steps, the docking station hardware may indeed be defective. In that case, upgrading to the HP USB-C Dock G5 would be a good option, as it offers improved compatibility and reliability with newer HP Spectre x360 models, especially for video output and power delivery.

Hi @Asif1704,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

For the HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-aw0xxx, a compatible docking station should support USB-C or Thunderbolt connections

Recommended Docking Stations:

HP Thunderbolt Dock 120W G2:

  • This dock provides plenty of connectivity options, including Thunderbolt 3, which is suitable for high-speed data transfer and multiple display support.
  • Comes with USB-C ports capable of power delivery to charge your laptop while in use.

HP USB-C Dock G5:

  • Offers multiple USB-A and USB-C ports, HDMI, DisplayPort, and audio jacks.
  • Can power and charge your laptop via USB-C.

HP Elite USB-C Docking Station:

  • Provides connectivity via USB-C with additional ports for peripherals.
  • Includes options for connecting external displays and Ethernet.

Key Considerations:

  • Compatibility: Ensure the dock supports the USB-C or Thunderbolt version used by your Spectre x360 for optimal performance.
  • Power Delivery: Check that the docking station can supply sufficient power to your laptop to maintain battery charge while connected.
  • Ports and Connectivity: Consider the number and types of ports you need for your peripherals, such as HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-A, USB-C, Ethernet, and audio ports.

I hope this helps.

Hi Deep,

Thank you for your reply and for recommending the docking station.

I am attaching photos of the docking station I purchased for my HP Spectre x360 laptop. In Device Manager, the docking station is identified as “HP Elite USB-C Dock G4” (please see the attached screenshot), as per your recommendation.

Most functions are working properly, including the network connection, USB ports, and USB-C port. However, the display outputs (HDMI and DisplayPort) are not working, and the power button on the docking station is also unresponsive.

At this stage, I have two possible concerns:

  1. The docking station may not be fully compatible with my laptop.

  2. Since the docking station was purchased used, the display ports may be faulty.

I would appreciate your guidance on this matter. Please let me know whether you recommend proceeding with the HP USB-C Dock G5 instead.

Best regards,
