Greetings,
i am a very big fan of Hp laptop and personally i prefer to use brand new laptop rather than refurbished because i believe in a new laptop quality is assured and also i will not have to deal with small small issues associated with refurbished laptops.
i have recently purchased a brand new hp pavillion-15, core i7, 2023 model. I have upgraded from hp 15 core i3 which i have used since 2017 when i procured it brand new. Honestly i am not a satisfied customer. The display is of this hp pavillion is poor, writings seems to be blurred, videos and pictures are not quality and HD as compared to my old laptop which was very clear considering it had its highest resolution as (1368x768).
Now the biggest problems comes to when i connect the hp pavillion 15 to my TV through hdmi to watch songs, movies or lets say football. The display is awful and not clear as i desire and as i expected when purchasing the laptop.
i have installed all the latest drivers and corrected all display features but i still not satisfied with the display of this laptop.
This got me wondering why is this display poor than my older version of Hp 15 which for Gods sake was a core i3 and very cheap compared to this hp pavillion, very hyped, very pretty looking, expensive?? Kindly assist

Hi @ Gathara,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your frustration with the display quality on your new HP Pavilion 15 laptop. Poor display quality can be caused by various factors, and it's good that you've already taken some steps to address the issue.
Here are a few additional suggestions you can try to improve the display quality:
- Check Display Settings:
- Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
- Make sure the resolution is set to the recommended value for your display. For a 15.6-inch laptop, it's typically 1920x1080 (Full HD). Setting the resolution to the native resolution of the display usually provides the best image quality.
- Graphics Driver Update:
- Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Visit the official HP website or the graphics card manufacturer's website (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) to download and install the latest graphics drivers.
- Color Calibration:
- Windows 10 has a built-in color calibration tool. You can access it by searching for "Calibrate display color" in the Start menu. Follow the on-screen instructions to adjust gamma, brightness, contrast, and color balance for your display.
- HDMI Cable Quality:
- Make sure you are using a high-quality HDMI cable. A low-quality or damaged cable can affect the display quality. Try using a different HDMI cable to see if it makes a difference.
- TV Settings:
- If the poor display quality is specific to the TV, check the TV settings. Ensure that the TV is set to the correct input source and adjust display settings on the TV, such as sharpness, color, and contrast.
- BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Check if there is a BIOS/UEFI update available for your laptop on the HP support website. Sometimes, manufacturers release updates that can improve system performance and compatibility.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Gaya, appreciate the response. i have updated all the drivers, BIOS/UEFI is upto date, i have tried caliberation and the hdmi cable i am using is the same as i used to use with the previous laptop not damaged in any way.
The screen display quality is just low. I have compared several new laptops and they seem to behave the same so i guess its just what it is. I guess with the modernization and tech advancement, the manufacturers maximized on physical appearance and other features and messed with graphic drivers and the display. I would suggest before responding you compare the hp15,corei3 with the new hp pav 15 core i7 and see if you understand what i am saying.
