Laptop: HP Pavillion gaming laptop 15z - ec200
512 GB Storage
16 GB Upgraded memory, don't know if this is related but one RAM slot failed and the other was replaced with a 16 GB single stick
Original Memory: 2x 4GB 3200 MHZ
So, i was playing a game, and disconnected from my monitor and keyboard/mouse at my desk, when my screen went black for about 16 seconds (As an estimate) Until crashing to the stop code: VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR, after crashing the a went straight to a windows update screen (Although there were no updates i knew of to be downloaded) And restarted again, like a normal windows update and opened normally, although after checking task manager, my computer was no longer recognizing the NVIDIA GTX 1650 GPU installed into the laptop and was running off the integrated graphics from the Ryzen 5 5600H, this has happened before, although the first time (Before this) it did not immediately crash, but crash after i restarted the computer: i made a post to the microsoft community for the first instance: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/main-gpu-blacks-out-and-disconnects/45c820be-8....

Hi @EpicSnail23,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion gaming laptop is not recognizing the installed GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.
Check Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Windows Start button and select "Device Manager."
- Look for the "Display adapters" section. If your GPU is not listed or is listed with an error icon (yellow triangle or red X), there may be a driver issue.
Update GPU Drivers:
- Visit the official website of the GPU manufacturer (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD) and download the latest drivers for your specific GPU model.
- Install the drivers and restart your laptop.
BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a specific key during startup, like F2 or Del).
- Check if there's an option related to the GPU, such as "Switchable Graphics" or "Primary Display Adapter." Ensure that the dedicated GPU is set as the primary display device.
- Save the changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI.
Physical Connection:
- Ensure that the GPU is properly seated in its slot. In some cases, reseating the GPU can resolve connection issues.
Power Management:
- Some laptops have power management settings that may disable the dedicated GPU to save power. Check your power settings and set them to high performance mode.
Windows Updates:
- Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date by installing all available updates.
BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Check if there are any BIOS/UEFI updates available for your laptop on the HP website. Sometimes, updating the system firmware can resolve hardware recognition issues.
Third-Party Software:
- Check if any third-party software or utilities are interfering with the GPU recognition process. Disable or uninstall any such software temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.
Hardware Test:
- If the issue persists, consider running hardware diagnostics provided by HP. These tests can identify hardware issues, including problems with the GPU.
Remember to back up important data before making significant changes to your system, such as updating drivers or BIOS settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
