When I connect my Blue Ray player with Laptop via HDMI Port of both, Laptop does not show any connectivity. I want to rip my bluerays since they are getting damaged.

The HDMI ports on the BlueRay player and HP Spectre x360 - 15-df1033dx are output only. Therefore the process to rip BlueRays requires a different approach. To begin, there needs to be a different device used to be the source for the BlueRay. It needs to be a device intended to run on a computer. Since the HP Spectre x360 - 15-df1033dx does not have a BlueRay drive, then you need to have an external BlueRay drive that can connect to the PC via USB.
Next most BlueRay content, if it is a commercially produced disk, will have encryption to prevent copying. There are discussions on the internet which address that issue, and I assume we cannot discuss that issue here on the forum.
If you wish to pursue the copying of a BlueRay disc, you will need to study the process elsewhere to find what you need, the procedure to use and software to purchase.
Sorry.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
Yes HDMI port of Blue Ray player is output only, and it has to be that only. In case of HP Spectre, it can not be connected through HDMI port, since its too an output port. But there is a Type C Thunderbolt port on right corner which is an intake port, and can catch data at high speed coming from the blue ray player. I had purchased HDMI to Type C USB Thunderbolt cord, which connect the player with laptop, But the laptop is still not showing Blue Ray Player as an external device. Strangely it shows an old Lenovo DVD external drive, but not the BR player. My query primarily is wether it is a hardware issue or a software one. I had all updated drivers available on both the devices. As u have pointed out does external blue ray player are different than the one which we have in a way. I will try to find out it today.
Thanks and let us try to find a solution.

Due to the way the original post was worded, I did not consider the idea of using the Thunderbolt port as an input. As far as the setup that is current, when you say " it shows an old Lenovo DVD external drive" - does that connection give you access to see a DVD when connected in that manner? By that, I mean can you look at the info/data on a DVD that is placed in that drive?
Also, is it possible to move/transfer that data to the hard drive on the laptop?
Being that I am not familiar with using the HP Thunderbolt port in the manner you are suggesting, I am not certain that a "HP Thunderbolt port" to HDMI cable is sufficient to bring data back into the hosting PC, that is why I am asking you to do the testing of being able to retrieve the data from a DVD.(since the your previous testing shows it can "see" the Lenovo DVD external drive).
Let me know how that experiment works, as I am wanting/willing to learn.

I had that Lenovo external DVD drive for quite some years. It is exactly Lenovo Slim USB Portable DVD Burner DB60. I must have saw, copied and ripped hundreds of DVD,s and CD,s with this drive over last 6-7 years. It has worked perfectly from Windows 7 to 11 without any glitch. I usually use Windows Media Player, but it has worked with other software too without any problems.
Actually i am doing this digitalisation of our music and movies for quite long, for perhaps more than 20 years. I must have recorded more than 500 cassettes and100 LP,s specially of a genre of music - Ghazals, into digital format. Then I turned to copy my movie collection from VCD & DVD,s onto Hard Disk. I have got almost 100 Blue Rays and I do want to copy them on a HDD, since I have seen them getting scratched etc, and I know i will loose them in few years. that's what the urgency.
I read about this Blue Ray Player to HDMI Thunderbolt port data transmission in some group discussion on €net. That's why I purchased this lead from amazon but the matter is back to square one.
Now somebody has suggested me to connect an External Blueray Drive like my Lenovo drive, and it will be visible on my PC and I can then rip my blue rays. I have already got on Blue Ray Player, so I wish to avoid the expense of buying another ext BR Drive. I live in Unnao, UP, India.
Thanks sir, will be more than happy for your other helpful inputs whenever u can give.

I think you should invest in an External USB Blueray Drive and use it in the same manner as you have used the Lenovo Slim USB Portable DVD Burner. I am certain that will work for you. I do not think using the Sony BD S4200 in the manner under discussion will work for the process you are attempting.
