I bought a Belkin USB-C 6-in-1 Multiport Adapter with 4k HDMI, Ethernet, USB-C, 2x USB and SD. It is advertised to work on Macs and PCs.
My goal is a 2nd external monitor (laptop screen, monitor 1 and monitor 2), and wired ethernet. When I connect the device to the laptop, I get error messages: Display Connection might be limited. Make sure the DisplayPort device you are connecting to is supported by your PC. (select this message for more info... that led me to try to update drivers. No luck).
I found a firmware update on hp.com support (sp90209). It would not install.
Do I have any hope of getting this device to work? Belkin tech support (90 minutes online!) says it should be "plug and play". Thus, not their problem.
If this won't work, is there a connector/device where I can connect a 2nd external monitor to this computer? It doesn't have to be HDMI, it could be VGA or DVI (I have several monitors and lots of cables!).
(I did see a different message that a monitor could not be connected to a HP Pavilion with a USB-C).
(And, on another note, it did plug and play on my Mac. 😉 )
Thanks in advance.
