I have an HP laptop with one HDMI port and one USB-c port and I want to connect two monitors. Here are the steps I followed:

  1. Bought a 2 in 1 HDMI adapter. Does not work. I read through the forums and I thought the issue is I may have bought an hdmi switcher instead of a splitter
  2. I went to a store and asked for an HDMI splitter. The employee told me that having a splitter would not allow both monitors to function at the same time.
  3. Bought a USB-c to HDMI adapter. The monitor is not working. I then read that my port is data only and not video

Any solutions how I can connect two monitors?

@derbu

The HDMI splitter normally gives you 2 SAME monitors because they come from ONE source. I think that is not what you want. If you wish to have 2 or more external monitors (and notebook monitor - total 3), please enter your requirement on the following link and it will find for you few USB-A DisplayLink Certified options on market today including some HP products (you can select HP before Search)

So, there is a solution happy to hear.

Do I need a DisplayLink certified option? I also saw some USB-to-HDMI or other adapters, but I cannot tell if they would work or not.
