I have the Spectre 360 laptop with USB C and USB 3.0 ports. I'm trying to connect a Z24i display, but no combination of cables and adapters seems to produce a signal. Can someone tell me what exactly I need? Thanks.

The specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06192658
It has 2x USB Type-C™ 3.1 Gen 2 (Thunderbolt™ 3, DP 1.2, PD 3.0, Data transfer, HP Sleep and Charge ) ports which support Alt mode with DP1.2.
I can't find available ports on your monitor
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c03883009
But I belive it has 1 VGA, 1 DisplayPort 1.2 (1.1 compatible), 1 DVI-D; HDCP support on DisplayPort and DVI
You can use USB-C to DP adapter to connect computer to monitor.
Regards.
