I'd like to connect my HP Elitebook Folio 1040 G3 notebook to a 4K screen using an HDMI cable.
The 4K screen is actually a Lenovo AIO (all in one PC, the AIO 720-24IKB model) with a 24" screen, which has an HDMI input port. I tried connecting another notebook (an Asus Zenbook 14" notebook) via this HDMI cable, and it worked, it duplicated the screen on the Lenovo AIO.
But with the HP Elitebook Folio 1040 G3 nothing appears. It's even so that the HP unit doesn't recognise the external screen (I tried to let it search the external monitor in the display settings).
BTW, the OS is Windows 10.
Any suggestions on what to do?
My personal guess at this moment is that either 1) the HP unit I have is a bit old and cannot display on a 4K screen, or 2) some driver or SW update is needed or 3) some special setting is needed or has to be activated or 4) something needs to be done in the BIOS (just wildly guessing.

Manual

which says it ONLY has HDMI 1.4 (shown on page 2) therefore you won't get 4K You need a machine with HDMI 2.0 or higher.
Regards.
