HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey guys,

I am using the following hardware:

- HP EliteBook 840 G6
- 2x HP Z27k G3
- HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock

My current setup:

Display Port cable from input port of Display 1 to output port of Display 2, so both displays are connected.

From Display 1 a USB-C cable goes into my notebook.

Result: Expanding my notebook works on display 1, but nothing happens on display 2.

I would prefer to simply connect both displays to the docking station and then connect them via USB-C to my notebook. But that doesn't work either.

Any tips?

Thanks!
Nicolas

I'm using HP USB-C G5 dock - 5TW10AA  (I don't have HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock). I don't know why HP has few products called HSB-C G5 dock and my setup is very simple with ONLY one cable from my 840 G5 machine to the dock SINGLE cable works. I do not use daisy chain. Turn on the dock will turn on machine and shut down machine will turn off the dock.

Please update firmware of the dock from https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-usb-c-g5-essential-dock/2101469887, hope this helps

Regards.

Hi Banhien,

thank you will check.

Can you give a suggestion for the display setup?

I am not quite sure if it is correct how I did it.

Thanks!

Best

Nicolas

Hey Banhien,

the firmware update was not helpful for this issue.

I need a suggestion how to connect the two displays to the docking station.

Is it mandatory to connect the two displays each other? Or is it enough to plug in both separately to the docking station? And when it is so, with which cables?

I actually tested on my HP Omen 15" my HP Envy 15-ee0047nr and my Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 13-7000 series with 3 external monitors using 2 DP ports and one HDMI port on the dock.

I'm using the dock with my HP 840 now it the only machine I can use single cable connection. The dock did not charge my Omen (of course because it requires 200W charger).

Regards.
