Is it possible to connect a monitor to my laptop with a VGA to USB adapter? On my Dell laptop, I connected one monitor through the HDMI port and used an adapter to connect the other monitor to the USB port. I can't seem to get that to work on my new HP laptop, but I don't know if my adapter is bad (it's about 4 years old) or if it won't work on this computer. Any advice?

What is your machine ? It could be one of the following machines
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-17.3-inch-laptop-pc-17-c1000/2100852827/product-info
which shows it has following ports
- 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate;
- 2 SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate;
- 1 HDMI 1.4b;
- 1 AC smart pin;
- 1 headphone/microphone combo
Its USB-C port is hopeless. If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only), you can use
Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable
Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

For more connectivity, please use
True Universal Docking Stations
