Hi, I got this new laptop. I feel like the screen isn't as bright or vivid as I am used to. My screen is at full brightness too. I don't know if it's just me getting used to a new screen. Thank you.

Hi @Aigerim,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've recently switched to a new laptop and feel that the screen isn't as bright or vivid as you're used to, there are a few things you can check and adjust to potentially improve the display quality.
- Brightness Settings: Ensure that your laptop's screen brightness is set to its maximum. You mentioned that your screen is at full brightness, but make sure there isn't a power-saving mode or adaptive brightness setting that's affecting the screen's brightness.
- Color Calibration: You can calibrate your display settings to make colors more vivid and accurate. On Windows, search for "Color Calibration" in the Control Panel and follow the on-screen instructions. On macOS, go to System Preferences > Displays > Color, and use the Calibrate button.
- Display Mode: Some laptops have different display modes like "Vivid," "Standard," or "Energy Saving." Experiment with these modes to see if any of them make the colors appear more vibrant.
- Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated or incompatible drivers can affect your display's performance. Visit the manufacturer's website to download and install the latest drivers for your laptop.
- Resolution and Scaling: Check your display resolution and scaling settings. Lower resolutions or unusual scaling settings can affect how your screen looks. Set it to the native resolution for the best clarity and quality.
- Environmental Lighting: The lighting in your environment can also have a significant impact on how your screen appears. Make sure you're not in overly bright or overly dim lighting conditions, as this can affect your perception of screen quality.
- Monitor Settings: Some laptops come with additional software or on-screen display (OSD) settings that allow you to adjust color temperature, contrast, and other display parameters. Explore these settings to see if any adjustments improve the display.
- Background Applications: Sometimes, background applications can affect display performance. Make sure there are no software applications or processes running that might be affecting your screen quality.
- Screen Quality: It's possible that the laptop you purchased has a screen with different characteristics compared to your previous one. Some laptops come with lower-quality screens that may not have the same brightness or color accuracy as high-end models.
- Check for Defects: If you've tried all the above steps and are still not satisfied with the screen quality, it's possible that there could be a defect in the laptop's display.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
