HP Recommended

The crack is near the bottom corner and goes up one side of the screen making that side unresponsive. I don't have the money to buy a new laptop but google says repair could cost up to $300 to fix the screen which is about half of what I paid.  I appreciate any feedback.

I am sorry your screen is cracked.  Unfortunately, it is almost always uneconomical to repair a broken laptop screen, as you probably already suspected.

 

You could consider taking your laptop to a local laptop repair shop and have them take a look at it and/or getting you a repair cost estimate.
