Hi.
I have this pc for over a year, hardly used it, and then only for writing texts. The problem I have is each time I try to watch a video, HDD or online, the PC crashes- sometimes after 2-3 min other times after 2 seconds. I have reinstalled windows, I have updated all drivers and BIOS, the scans say all ok, but still the pc crashes. What else can I do?
Thanks for any help.

@Semm Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that PC Crashes when playing a video.
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Is that how your screen looks when connected to an external display? or does this happen only when playing the video online?
If it's only when playing online video content and doesn't happen offline, perhaps, you could check with an alternate browser such as Mozilla Firefox, etc...
Also, I would request you to follow the below steps to capture and reply back with the error message/code to identify the issue and find a permanent fix:
-
In Windows, search for and open View advanced system settings.
-
In the Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery, click Settings.
-
Under System Failure, remove the check mark next to automatically restart, and then click OK.
-
Restart the computer to apply the change.
-
The computer no longer restarts automatically when a blue screen error occurs.
For more details: click here
Please reply back with the error code as the issue is code specific and it would be rather easier to provide an accurate solution using the same.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I just want to be a bit clearer. The PC crashes whenever I play video, be it online or offline. sometimes after seconds, other a min or two in . I get no blue screen, the pc just crashes. I get a clicking noise and a black screen or fuzzy black and white lines. Also, the PC does not restart, it just freezes.
I have done all the reinstalling/updating of the BIOS and the drivers, but no luck. When I go to a restore point, there are none earlier than when I updated the drivers, as I have never really used the PC.
Thanks for any help.

Thank you for the update.
In that case, I would suggest you perform, the system reset and check.
Have a nice day!!

I understand your concerns.
Please perform the system reset and check.
Windows 10 has a reset feature that repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This feature is recommended for recovery because it reinstalls Windows 10 while either preserving your personal data and customizations or removing all your personal data.
You have a choice of two methods to reset your computer.
-
If Windows 10 loads correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset in Windows in this document.
-
If Windows 10 does not start correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset through Windows Recovery Environment in this document.
Have a nice day!!
