Creaking and stiff lid hinge

I've had my fantastic laptop since mid 2020 so it is out of warranty but it is my baby and gets treated with kid gloves. 

Recently it has started being stiff to open with creaking noises coming from the right lid hinge as seen from the front. if I watch it as it opens I can see it is pushing the bottom plastic cover off as the lid opens.  As stated I know its out of warranty but I would like to know my options as I have seen several similar posts and I feel that as I have barely had it two years this seems to be something HP should address as it should last a lot longer considering its cost!

My last machine (Packard Bell) lasted me ten years and my kids still use it for school work. Any advice or assistance would be appreciated.
