My curser jumps to the upper left corner rendering the device useless.  Happens using 2 different mice, the touchpad, and the pen.  I have gone through everything and run every diagnostic test that has previously been suggested.  I have disabled the pen and removed all mice (not ideal) and it continues to happen.  New Bios update was installed and it continues.  I thought it was my screen protector so I removed that, still happening.

Any other - new ideas that actually work?

@Cute1kitty,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I recommend you uninstall the touchpad driver from device manager and then download and install it from the below link.

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

Here is how it is done.

  1. Type "Device Manager" into the search field to open the device manager console.
  2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
  3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
  4. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.

NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

If you continue facing the issue, then perform a system restore back to the date when everything was working fine.

Follow the steps in the below article to perform a system restore.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Already did that as well - factory restored twice.  Was running out of my 2 week return window at Best Buy, so I returned it and got the MacBook Pro I was talked out of the first time - no issues with that so far.
