Hi @ightlilbro,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your cursor is missing on an HP Notebook and you don't have the password, it can be a challenging situation. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Restart the Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix many issues. If you can't see the cursor, try restarting the computer and see if it resolves the problem.
  • External Mouse: If you have an external mouse, you can connect it to your laptop and use it as a temporary solution.
  • Safe Mode: Boot the computer in Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, only essential drivers and services are loaded, and this might help in diagnosing and fixing the issue. To boot into Safe Mode, restart the computer and press the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears.
  • System Restore: If the issue started recently, you might consider using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state where the cursor was working. This will not affect your personal files but will uninstall any programs or updates installed after the chosen restore point.
  • HP Recovery Manager: If you're unable to access the system, you may try using HP Recovery Manager to restore the system to its factory settings. This will erase all your data, so it's a last resort.
  • Password Recovery: If you don't have the password, you might need to consider password recovery options. Check if you have set up any password recovery options like a Microsoft account or a password hint.

Remember that performing a system restore or using HP Recovery Manager will result in data loss, so it's crucial to back up your important files if possible.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
