HP ENVY - 17m-ae111dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My notebook is stuck on a low brightness level. I have used the on-board HP Assistant and there are no obvious problems. Note: the Assistant does NOT list display as an option under any of the sub-menus. Though the keyboard test is ok, CTRL F1 or F2 do NOT change the brightness. The Windows Notification area DOES NOT have a screen or display brightness icon. Using Windows Settings, there IS NO SLIDER in any of the menus or submenus for the display. That includes the "handicapped user" options. Using Intel's Support Assistant, I updated the UHD Graphics 620 (the native HP device). No change. The HP Driver website drivers for this unit naturally ended around 2018. The brightness was working fine before the last Windows update. Open to ideas as w/o the attached monitors (when I travel), this screen is so dim as to be almost unreadable. (Yes: battery ok. No, no screen damage i.e. never dropped, abused, etc.)
