First off does anyone have a link to the latest bios for this laptop i'm having trouble tracking it down please read further for the main issue.
As the title says the laptop screen is black no beeps and the system seems to function as normal there is just no display.
I thought this might be the dreaded "DEAD GPU" thing with this line of notebooks however I plugged it into my HDTV with HDMI and it works through that with out issues.
The funny part is sometimes when I do this it fixes the laptops screen when restarted and functions as normal then after a few more restarts or turning it on and off it goes black again.
I've reset the bios, removed the CMOS battery and laptop battery held the power button down for 30 seconds, removed ram all the usual steps.
Sometimes the screen works and sometimes it doesn't turn on at all still connects to an external display fine.
I used the light on my phone to see if it was maybe just making the screen really dark couldn't see anything just pure black.
So I'm wondering if its any the following.
the LCD
the inverter
The display cable connected to the mobo
Any insight into this?
Thanks.
PS - what is the max ram and best cpu upgrade for this laptop?

I have gone through your Post and I would like to assist
I could be any of the 3 issues you mentioned but it's more likely to be the display cable connected to the Motherboard
I suggest you contact HP Support for Service Options
Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/ and select your Country to get the Contact details for HP Support
Since this is an obsolete Model It's not recommended to upgrade the CPU or RAM
Thank you 😊

I thought it might be the cable more than the LDC or inverter I'll acquire a new one via ebay.
On the subject of the CPU and ram just because its an "obsolete" model does not mean upgrading to a faster CPU or more ram isn't beneficial hell I put an SSD into this with a copy of WINDOWS 10 64 and it runs like dream.
So I'd like to ask what's the highest CPU this laptop can manage and what is the maximum amount of RAM this can take? I see on old forum posts it can support 8GB of ram and a T9500 CPU but I'd like to be told by an expert who has knowledge of this to be correct and factual.
Thanks.
