Help Please! I had my laptop repaired in February 2024 (Entire Base of laptop including keyboard) I did not notice that my DVD Drawer did not work (open) when my laptop was returned. It seems to be stuck.
My laptop is still under care package warranty. I just don't want to return my laptop back to HP for repairs to the DVD Drawer for at least 8 days... Any suggestions?
I look forward to hearing from someone soon. Thanks!

Hi,
When you press the button nothing happens?
When click on eject in Windows nothing happens?
There is a small hole (usually) on the DVD cover (the part that pops out), You can stick a pin (such as the one for smartphone SIM opener) into it and push, and it will push out the Drawer
Hope it helps,
David

Hello Lomare!!
Thanks for replying to my needs! I succeeded with getting the DVD Drawer open with the pin move. Now when I try to play a disc nothing happens. There are two lights beside the drawer. There has always been. One light stays on and the other blinks. I thought I should mention... Is there any way I can make sure that the DVD player still works? Thanks

You're welcome.
Do you see the DVD drive in Windows?
Open folder > open This PC > does the DVD drive show?
You could try pulling the drive out and pushing back in again. (It is a customer self-repair part, so can be done under warranty)
On pages 32-33 of service manual you can see how to slide the drive out and the slide it back in again.

If still not working, best idea to send in under warranty.
The other advice if you really need the PC and really need DVD for the next 8 days you could get and external USB DVD player at local electronics shop.
Hope it helps,
David
