HP Notebook - 15-da0636nd

Hello,

After I installed the updates today my screen was quite dark. And the brightness option was gone. I set my laptop back to the previous build and the problem was gone. So there seems to be a problem with some updates for HP laptops this day.

Greetings Didier

Hi @Didier87,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm sorry to hear that the recent updates caused issues with your laptop's screen brightness—it can be frustrating when updates disrupt essential features. Let's work to address the problem and prevent it from happening again.

Pause Windows Updates Temporarily:

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and pause updates for 7 days. This will prevent the problematic update from reinstalling while we troubleshoot.

Reinstall Display Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select it).
  • Expand Display Adapters, right-click your GPU (e.g., Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD), and select Uninstall Device.
  • Restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.

Download Drivers from HP’s Website:

  • Visit the HP Support page for your laptop model and download the latest graphics driver compatible with your system.
  • Install the driver and restart your laptop to ensure proper functionality.

Hide Problematic Updates:

  • Use the Microsoft "Show or Hide Updates" troubleshooter tool to block the update that caused the issue. You can download this tool from Microsoft’s support site.

Monitor for Future Updates:

  • Keep an eye on HP’s support page or Windows Update logs for fixed versions of the problematic update. Once it’s resolved, you can re-enable updates.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
