HP Pavilion Laptop - 15z touch
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

1) 15.6" diagonal HD SVA BrightView micro-edge WLED-backlit touch screen (1366 x 768)

VS

2) 15.6" diagonal FHD IPS BrightView micro-edge WLED-backlit touch screen (1920 x 1080)

What is the difference between these two above? I ordered IPS BrightView (1920 X 1080) for an additional $50 but the max resolution I can get is 1366 * 768. If I turn on AMD Virtual Super-resolution, I can get higher resolution but that is a Virtual resolution.

If I connect external monitor I can get 1920* 1080 p without turning in Virtual Super Resolution.

Was the laptop misconfigured? and should I not get 1920 x 1080 without virtual resolution option 2 above?

@beesndraw  Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to know the difference between HD SVA BrightView vs FHD IPS BrightView Micro Edge WLED Backlit touch screen.

Brightview - Glossy finish

Adv :

Bright/crisp colors

Good to use in-room without much lighting.

Disadv:

Extremely reflective.

Anti-Glare/Matte - Its matte finish. It has an anti-reflective coating.

Adv :

It doesn't reflect light, so you get a good viewing experience even you ave (sun) lights around.

Disadv :

Video/Image looks COMPARITIVELY dull  (its shows the original color, whereas Brightview, shows enhanced colors)

I prefer Brightview as I mostly use it inside my room - without much light.

Another thing is in HP - If you go for FullHD 1080p - It doesn't have Brightview display (only Matte finish).

After all its all about personal preference.

I hope that answers your query,
