Fonts are under the control of Windows.
At this writing, Windows standard font is Segoe - and yes, it can be changed.
After reading about it - the change requires a registry hack - I will not post that information here. If you do decide to make use of the information found on the 'net, please read and make the necessary preparations.
Before making any changes to your computer:
- Create a Restore Point
- If you are extra paranoid, back up any or your personal and most critical data to a location other than the computer.
- Create an Export (backup) of the full Registry
- Use your favorite search engine and search for information. For example, use search phrase "change font used in file explorer Windows 10"
There are only a few standard modifications using the tools Windows has provided.
Some of these:
Dial up (increase) the brightness on your screen. If you are using battery, know that the higher setting will more quickly use battery resources.
Settings > Personalization > Colors
- Select "Light" Windows mode to force the text to be presented in black
- Select "Light" App mode to force the available contrast in the setting
- Select Transparency OFF to reduce the chance that text will be obscured.
- Select a color based on the contrast it provides against your text. This is something with which you may need to experiment - what works for me may not be suitable to your situation.
- Under Show accent color on the following surfaces
Select whether to use your color scheme on various applications.
Finally,
Consider using a High Contrast setup - find the link on the right side of the menu / page in Settings > Personalization > Colors
Notes:
- High Contrast settings can be helpful or annoying.
- Sometimes it takes a bit of poking at it to remove the setting once it is in place. (Personal experience - and I disliked the results enough that I won't retest it now.)
