@MDusman, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop (15-fb1000) is experiencing a persistent backlight failure or a display power issue. Since reconnecting the battery worked before but no longer helps, let's try some troubleshooting steps:

1. Basic Checks:

Adjust Brightness: Try increasing brightness using Fn + F3 or Windows Settings → System → Display.
External Display Works: Since your external monitor works fine, the issue is likely with the laptop's built-in display.

2. Software-Related Fixes:

🔹 Reset Graphics Driver: Press Win + Ctrl + Shift + B to restart the display driver.
🔹 Update Display Driver:

Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).

Expand Display Adapters → Right-click your GPU (AMD/NVIDIA) → Update driver.

Also, expand Monitors, right-click Generic PnP Monitor, and update it.
🔹 Disable Adaptive Brightness:

Go to Control Panel → Power Options.

Select your power plan → Change plan settingsChange advanced power settings.

Look for DisplayEnable adaptive brightness, and turn it off for both "On battery" and "Plugged in".
🔹 Try Safe Mode: If the display is still dim in Safe Mode (Shift + Restart → Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings → Safe Mode), it’s likely a hardware issue.

3. Hardware-Related Fixes:

🔹 Perform a Hard Reset:

Shut down your laptop.

Disconnect all peripherals and power adapter.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Reconnect the adapter and power on.

🔹 Check the Battery Connector Again:

If disconnecting/reconnecting the battery worked previously, check if the connection is secure.

There could be a loose display cable (especially if the screen flickers before going dim).

🔹 Check for Backlight Failure:

Shine a flashlight on the screen at an angle. If you can faintly see the display, then the backlight (or inverter circuit) may be failing.

If this is happening repeatedly, the issue could be with the LCD power circuit or motherboard display components.

I hope this helps. 🚀

Take care and have a good day.
