I have followed what I think are the correct steps to disable my clickpad (because I prefer to use a wireless Logitech M510 mouse). Inevitably, after a day or so, my laptop reverts back to active clickpad. Is there a better solution?

Here are the steps I use:

Settings, Mouse, Additional Mouse Options, Clickpad Settings, Clickpad Disable, Apply, OK.

@Valinor77,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I recommend you follow the below steps to disable the touchpad.

  1. Click Start, type mouse in the search field, and then select the Mouse control panel program from the search results.
  2. On the Device Settings tab of the Mouse Properties panel, click the Disable button to turn off the ClickPad.

The ClickPad can be re-enabled when needed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thanks for the suggestion, but with my Windows 10 I can only use the steps as outlined in my original question; however,  your path and my path are both very similar. When I got to the Click Pad Disable function, I noticed that I had not checked an additional box which says "Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached".  I checked that box 2 days ago and it seems to have solved the problem, but time will tell.
