Hi @TommyRoss1,

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding disabling the touchpad on an HP Pavilion laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Disabling the touchpad on your HP Pavilion laptop can be done using the operating system settings, whether you are using Windows 10 or Windows 11. Here’s how you can disable it:
For Windows 10:
Open Settings:
- Click the Start button.
- Click Settings.
Devices:
- In the Settings window, click Devices.
Touchpad:
- Select Touchpad from the left pane.
Disable Touchpad:
- Use the toggle switch to turn the touchpad from On to Off.
Mouse Connection Setting:
- If you wish to disable the touchpad only when a mouse is connected, uncheck the option Do not turn off the touchpad when the mouse is connected.
For Windows 11:
Open Settings:
- Click the Start button.
- Click Settings.
Bluetooth and Devices:
- In the Settings window, click Bluetooth & devices.
Touchpad:
- Select Touchpad from the right pane.
Disable Touchpad:
- Use the toggle switch to turn the touchpad from On to Off.
Mouse Connection Setting:
- If you wish to disable the touchpad only when a mouse is connected, uncheck the option Do not turn off the touchpad when the mouse is connected.
Alternative Method Using Touchpad Driver Settings:
If your laptop uses Synaptics or ELAN touchpad drivers, you can disable the touchpad through their respective settings.
- Synaptics: Search for Synaptic’s TouchPad in the search bar and navigate to settings to disable the touchpad when a USB mouse is connected.
- ELAN: Similarly, search for ELAN Touchpad Setting and adjust settings accordingly.
I hope this helps.
