Hi @FPASS
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
Here are some methods you can try:
1. Using Keyboard Shortcut
- Many HP laptops have a keyboard shortcut to disable the touchpad. Look for a key with a touchpad icon (usually one of the function keys, like F5 or F7) and try pressing Fn + that key to toggle the touchpad off.
2. Through Windows Settings
- Open Settings: Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Devices: Click on Devices, then select Touchpad from the left sidebar.
- Toggle Touchpad: If you see an option to disable the touchpad, toggle it off.
3. Using Device Manager
- Open Device Manager: Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Find Touchpad: Look under Mice and other pointing devices. You should see your touchpad listed (often as a Synaptics or ELAN device).
- Disable Device: Right-click on the touchpad entry and select Disable device. Confirm any prompts.
4. Using Mouse Settings
- Open Control Panel: Type "Control Panel" in the search bar and open it.
- Mouse: Click on Mouse (you may need to switch to large or small icons view).
- Touchpad Tab: If available, find a tab for the touchpad (like Device Settings or Touchpad). From there, you should be able to disable it.
5. Uninstall Touchpad Driver
- If none of the above methods work, you can uninstall the touchpad driver.
- In Device Manager, right-click the touchpad entry and select Uninstall device. Restart your laptop, and it should reinstall the driver automatically. This effectively disables the touchpad until you reinstall the driver.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Hello,
Thank you for your message.
Unfortunately, none of the solutions you mentioned have worked so far.
Do you know if there might be another solution, perhaps accessing the advanced BIOS settings?
Thanks again for your help.
Best regards,
Francesc
