I have an HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cd0xx and it's running Windows 10 Home 64-bit. I have a problem with the Discrete GPU. As you can see from Figure 1, Device Manager shows that the discrete GPU (R7 M340) is enabled and I have installed the latest drivers for it from AMD's website.
However, I noticed one day that any game that I run automatically uses the Integrated GPU (R7 Graphics) instead of the Discrete one. After some googling, I found out that, to force certain applications to use the dGPU, I need to enable High Performance mode for those applications through Display Settings > Graphics Settings in Windows 10. The problem is, the graphics settings does not show the dGPU and only shows the iGPU as both the Power Saving and High Performance GPU (Figure 2).
I have installed all the latest drivers from both HP and AMD, yet it's still the same. Some people on some sites suggested that one has to change Switchable Graphics options in BIOS settings and set it to "Dynamic" instead of "Fixed". Unfortunately, there is no such option available in my BIOS settings. I've installed the latest drivers for my system's BIOS yet that option still wasn't available.
What I want is to be able to use to dGPU for games but whatever I tried didn't work.
I have been trying to solve this issue for weeks now. If someone has a solution, kindly help me with it.
