HP Omen 17-AN100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello 🙂

Is it possible to get the bios or any other pre-Windows 10 on-screen info to display on an external monitor? I've tried through the HDMI & Mini DP ports with no luck. I also disconnected the cable connection on the motherboard end from the internal display (taking the webcam & mic with it) and tried both again with no luck. The only thing I haven't tried yet is popping of the the screen bezel and disconnecting the cable to the screen itself. I'm asking because the internal display is cracked and nothing comes up on it but black and white noise. I don't want to bother doing the bezel screen connection until I'm ready to replace the screen unless that will let me get the bios on the external monitor.

Could an HDMI to VGA cable do the trick or maybe something with the USB C port?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank Your For Your Time,

Hi @xtreme469,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing a hardware issue with your HP Omen 17-AN100. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To answer your question: if the internal display is broken then you may use an external monitor connecting it using HDMI or USB-C Type.

However, the PC needs to be sent to HP Service Centre to get it repaired, I'm sending out a private message to assist you with the next course of action.

Please check your Private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile Next, to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it or simply click on this link.
