Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A4AV)

My HP Victus 15-fa0012tg laptop. recently has a faint green vertical line that appeared on the screen, most noticeable against dark backgrounds. I have always handled the laptop with care, ensuring it was not subjected to any physical damage, moisture, or extreme conditions.

My warranty had shown that the warranty covered up to 2023 but I got this laptop last year 😞 Help anyone!

@kiceas, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A faint green vertical line on your HP Victus 15-fa0012tg screen, especially when no physical damage has occurred, is a relatively common issue and can stem from a few different causes. Here's a breakdown of what might be happening and what you can do:

Possible Causes

Hardware Issues:

  • LCD Panel Defect: A single vertical line often indicates a problem with the display panel itself.
  • Loose or Damaged Display Cable: The internal cable connecting the screen to the motherboard might be loose or damaged.
  • GPU or Motherboard Fault: Less commonly, the graphics processor or motherboard could be at fault.

Software/Driver Issues:

  • Outdated or Corrupt Graphics Drivers can sometimes cause display anomalies.

Troubleshooting Steps

Run HP Diagnostics:

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the Display Test to check for hardware issues.

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters, right-click your GPU, and select Update driver.
  • Alternatively, download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Check for External Display Behavior:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor.
  • If the line does not appear on the external display, the issue is likely with the laptop screen or its cable.
  • If it does appear, the issue may be with the GPU.

Gently Flex the Screen:

  • Carefully open and close the lid or gently press around the screen bezel. If the line flickers or changes, it could indicate a loose connection.
