ENVY x360 Convertible 15m-cp0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

OS Version: 21H1 Version 19043.1165

Display: AMD Radeon(TM) Vega 8 Graphics

Driver: 27.20.1034.6

When trying to increase font size, all filename underscores (file_name) and the bottom of any text (y g etc..) disappear in File Explorer. I have tried this on 1920x1080 and 1600x900 and they both act the same. Tried to use SP96638 and that put large vertical spaces between file and folder names.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Does it happen with MS word or an Internet browser?
  • Could you please share the picture of the font size issue?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

I did not receive an email that anyone had responded to my post, thank for getting back.

  • Could you please share the picture of the font size issue? No

I started playing with changing font size,  "Make text bigger" in settings and changing "Advanced scaling settings" in settings and got something that works, but the issue remains if I use the normal font size and suggested setting of 125% scaling.

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. The last thing I can suggest trying to restore a computer back to the factory default, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I appreciate your help, but I am going to pass on this one, too much work and I have played with the registry enough that I have gotten the font to a satisfactory size.
