Hi @hid34,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thank you for the response.
Try these steps:
Check for Windows Updates
- Ensure Your Operating System is Updated:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
Update Graphics Drivers
Updating your graphics drivers may resolve the screen flickering issue.
Update AMD Graphics Drivers:
- Visit the AMD Drivers and Support website.
- Auto detect or manually select your graphics card model (Radeon RX 6500M).
- Download and install the latest drivers.
Update Integrated Graphics Driver:
- If your laptop has integrated graphics from AMD (Ryzen 5 5600H), you should update those drivers as well.
- Visit the AMD Drivers and Support website and select the driver for your Ryzen processor.
Adjust Display Settings
Check Refresh Rate:
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Scroll down to Advanced display settings.
- Verify the refresh rate and adjust it if necessary (common refresh rates are 60Hz, 120Hz, etc.).
Change Color Profile:
- In Advanced display settings, try changing the color profile to see if it resolves the issue.
Perform a Clean Boot
Performing a clean boot can help identify if a background program or service is causing the issue.
- Perform Clean Boot:
- Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab.
- Check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all.
- Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
- In Task Manager, disable all startup programs.
- Restart your computer.
Check for Malware
Sometimes malware can cause display issues. Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or any trusted antivirus software to ensure your system is clean.
Check Physical Connections
- Ensure Proper Connection:
- Make sure the display cable is securely connected to the motherboard (if you feel comfortable opening your laptop).
I hope this helps.
